Crematoriums serving Northern Ireland
A guide to crematoriums serving Northern Ireland — Roselawn, Antrim & Newtownabbey and Lakelands — covering the cremation process, booking, music, webcasting, ashes and remembrance.
Quick answer
Cremation is chosen by many families in Northern Ireland. The main crematoriums are Roselawn (Belfast), Antrim & Newtownabbey, and Lakelands. This page explains the process, music and webcasting, ashes options and how our directory will help you compare them.
Cremation offers families flexibility in how and when they say goodbye. David Crymble & Sons prepare and submit all the cremation paperwork and arrange the service at the crematorium that suits your family.

The cremation process & booking
Cremation requires the death to be registered and specific statutory forms, which we complete for you. Any pacemaker or implant must be declared beforehand. Services usually run to a booked time slot, with a chapel for the service and committal.
Music systems & webcasting
Modern crematoria have audio systems for hymns, recorded music or a piper, and most offer webcasting so family abroad can watch. Record your choices with our music and hymn planners.
Ashes, books & gardens of remembrance
After cremation the ashes are returned to the family to bury, inter, scatter or keep. Many crematoria have gardens of remembrance and a Book of Remembrance. Our ashes instructions form helps you record your wishes.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to complete cremation forms myself?
No — as your funeral directors we prepare and submit the statutory cremation forms for you.
Why must a pacemaker be declared?
Pacemakers and some implants can be hazardous during cremation, so they must be declared and removed beforehand. We handle this sensitively.
Can family abroad watch the service?
Most crematoria offer webcasting or a recording so loved ones anywhere in the world can watch.
What happens to the ashes?
They are returned to the family. You can bury, inter, scatter or keep them — our ashes instructions form helps you decide.
Which crematorium will be used?
That depends on your wishes and availability. Roselawn serves Belfast; Antrim & Newtownabbey and Lakelands serve other areas. We will advise.
