When a death has occurred

Take a breath. We will help you through every step.

There is no need to have anything ready, and nothing has to be decided today. When you call, we take care of the first, most difficult things — gently, and at your pace.

The first thing to do

Call us, day or night

Whatever the hour, a member of the family will answer and guide you through what happens next.

If you can’t come to us

We will come to you

If you are housebound or it’s simply easier, we’ll arrange everything in the comfort of your own home.

What happens next

Five gentle steps, and we’re beside you for all of them

  1. 01

You call, and we bring your loved one into our care

At any hour. We’ll explain what’s needed and take care of the practical arrangements right away, so you can be with family.

  2. 02

We meet to make the arrangements

At one of our homes or yours. There’s no rush — we’ll talk through everything and answer every question, however small.

  3. 03

    We plan the service together

Church, chapel, crematorium or graveside; music, readings, flowers and notices. We’ll shape a service that feels right for your loved one.

  4. 04

    The day itself

We attend to every detail with dignity, so your family is free simply to remember and to grieve. A live broadcast can be arranged for those who can’t be there.

  5. 05

Aftercare, for as long as you need it

Help with notifications, memorials and paperwork, plus a listening ear and bereavement support whenever you need to reach us.

Things we’ll help you decide

What one family considers the ideal funeral may not be right for another — so we treat every family as unique. When you’re ready, these are the choices we’ll talk through together.

Burial or cremation

We’ll explain every option and cost, with no pressure either way.

A wake at home, or here

Whether to rest your loved one at home or use our funeral home.

Where the service will be

Church, chapel, crematorium or graveside — whatever feels right.

The coffin or casket

A considered range for every taste and budget.

Clothing

Their own clothes, or garments provided by us.

Resting beforehand

At home, or in church before the day of the service.

Announcing their passing

Press and online notices, worded together with you.

Flowers & tributes

Floral arrangements and charitable donations in memory.

Transport

A limousine for the family, seating up to six.

And we’ll take care of the rest

We liaise on your behalf with the cemeteries, crematorium, newspapers, clergy and florists, and advise you about registering the death. We can also help with the order of service, donations, the dispersal of ashes, repatriation from overseas, pre-paid plans, and the creation or refurbishment of a memorial.

Honest, transparent costs

We give every family a clear written estimate before anything is agreed. You can view our standardised price list at any time — there are never any hidden charges.
