International repatriation — bringing loved ones home
A guide to international repatriation from and to Northern Ireland — bringing a loved one home or returning them overseas, documentation, embassies, airlines and a country directory coming soon.
Quick answer
When someone dies abroad, or is to be returned overseas, repatriation brings them home with dignity. This page explains air and road repatriation, the documents, embassies and airlines involved, and our directory will provide country and embassy guides.
Repatriation can feel overwhelming, but you do not have to manage it alone. David Crymble & Sons arrange international repatriation to and from Northern Ireland, coordinating every document and detail so your loved one comes home with care.
Bringing a loved one home, or returning them overseas
We arrange both the repatriation of loved ones home to Northern Ireland and the return of those who wish to rest in another country, whether by air or, within these islands, by road.
Documentation
Repatriation requires documents such as a death certificate, an embalming certificate, a freedom-from-infection certificate and, often, consular paperwork. Some countries require an apostille (official legalisation) and certified translations. We coordinate all of this.
Embassies, airlines & airports
We liaise with embassies and consulates, airlines and airport cargo handlers to arrange respectful, compliant transport, and we keep you informed at every stage.
Costs & guidance
Costs vary by country, distance and circumstances. We provide clear guidance and a written estimate. Read our repatriation & death abroad guide, and call us early on the number below.
